“Meet the Frownies” – Twin Sister

Twin Sister is an indie pop band from Long Island, NY with a sound crossed between Nancy Sinatra and Toro y Moi’s earlier music. The song “Meet the Frownies” comes from their latest EP Split, released in 2011. A year later, hip hop producer Scoop Deville sampled the song in the debut single from Kendrick Lamar’s studio album good kid, m.a.a.d city. The song features hip hop legend Dr. Dre and peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard’s “Bubbling Under Top 100” list.
