Pooja Bhaskar Fashion Columnist A part of what makes VCU stand out from other colleges is our unique sense of style. Students from all over come together into one giant melting pot of trends with their each special flavor. Everyday, students all across campus step out in their best outfits and what better way to flaunt VCU’s fashion sense than on a blog? Collegefashionista.com is a fashion website showcasing campuses all across the country and turning everyday walks to class into a runway. As street style blogs have become extremely popular in the last few years, there is no better way to seek fashion inspiration on a college budget from other peers. Who are these street style searches? They are VCU’s greatest gems: the style gurus. Each guru has his or her own specialty such as accessories, men’s fashion trends, or even style advice of the week. Each guru must post a blog entry weekly corresponding to his or her topic, which keeps the site
fresh and entertaining. This year’s head style guru is none other than the fashion department’s very own Maria Parenti, who finds inspiration in everything from Alexander McQueen, Holllywood icons, poetry and of course the streets of Richmond. So if an outgoing style guru running after you with their camera ever approaches you, please don’t hesitate. Don’t forget to check out VCU’s section on collegefashionista.com, your wardrobe will thank you for it.
